Biocleanse Ultra wins prestigious Business Impact Award

Quadralene, parent company of infection control specialists Dentisan, is delighted to announce that they have become winners of the prestigious Knowledge Transfer Partnership 2014 ‘Business Impact’ award.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are funded by Innovate UK and other public sector partners, with the aim of helping businesses access knowledge and expertise within UK universities and colleges. The KTP Business Impact award recognises continuing outstanding commercial impact in the years following the KTP.

Quadralene has won this award in recognition of the success of Biocleanse Ultra, a highly effective, pH neutral, alcohol-free cleaner and disinfectant, originally developed through a KTP with the University of Nottingham. Since its launch Biocleanse Ultra has had a significant impact on decontamination procedures within dental practices, thanks to its ability to remove proteins from surfaces and clean and disinfect in a single process.

The award was presented to Quadralene’s Managing Director, Bob Newsome, by Maggie Philbin at the ‘Best of British 2014’ ceremony in London, held on 4th November. Bob said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award in recognition of Biocleanse Ultra and would like to thank everyone involved in its development and subsequent commercial success. It is a great honour to once again receive external third party validation of the efficacy of this product.”

To mark this award, Dentisan in conjunction with Henry Schein Dental is offering a discount on all purchases of Biocleanse Ultra until 12th December 2014. For more information, visit

Lisa Ollerenshaw celebrates 30 years at Quadralene

The team at Quadralene would like to pass on their congratulations to Lisa Ollerenshaw who is celebrating an amazing 30 years of service with the company.

Lisa came to Quadralene straight from school aged just 17, a time she recalls when there were no computers and mobile phones hadn’t even been invented! Her first job was working in Quadralene’s in-house laboratory as a quality control technician, a role she enjoyed for 14 years. Lisa then moved to the purchasing department working her way up to Head of Purchasing, and just over a year ago Lisa moved again to work in credit control where she is now Head of Quality Assurance. As Lisa said, “I feel as if I’ve had three totally different careers but all at the same company!”

Lisa commented, “Quadralene is a great company to work for with a fantastic team ethic. It’s a family orientated company, we work together and look out for each other. Many of our staff have been with the company for a long time, in fact there are at least three other staff members who have also reached over 30 years service.”

Celebrating with colleagues and plenty of cream cakes, Lisa generously asked that instead of a gift that Quadralene made a donation on her behalf to her chosen charity WaterAid. We were delighted to oblige, but despite her request we couldn’t help also giving Lisa a pair of pearl earrings as a token of appreciation for her long commitment to the company.

Bridge2Aid thanks Dentisan for their support

Dentisan has received a heartfelt ‘thank you’ from the team at Bridge2Aid for their donations and support towards the move and refurbishment of Hope Dental Centre in Mwanza, Tanzania.

Hope Dental Centre is Bridge2Aid’s fully-equipped dental clinic, which operates on a unique self-funding basis and provides a wide range of high quality dental services at affordable prices to all members of the Mwanza community. All the centre’s running costs, including the dentists’ capped salaries, are met from the fees charged to patients and all profits made go towards the administrative costs of Bridge2Aid.

Dentisan has supported Bridge2Aid for a number of years and has built up a great relationship with the charity, becoming one of six ‘Corporate Friends’ earlier this year.
Hope Dental Centre has been a huge project to undertake and Bridge2Aid acknowledges it wouldn’t have been possible without the ongoing support of those within the dental industry.

The refurbishment and equipping of Hope Dental Centre is now complete, and the team are already seeing patients. Dentisan is proud to have been able to contribute to this amazing project, which will go a long way towards Bridge2Aid’s ultimate goal – creating communities around the world free from dental pain.
Anthony Mee volunteers for justice programme

As part of our commitment to supporting and helping the local community, Quadralene’s Head of Supply Chain, Anthony Mee, has been volunteering on a six-week restorative justice programme called Sycamore Tree.

Sycamore Tree is a pioneering programme currently running in 40 prisons and Young Offenders Institutes across England and Wales. It is designed to raise victim awareness among offenders by teaching them the principles and application of restorative justice. Offenders on the programme explore the effect that crime has on victims, the community, and ultimately themselves through a variety of methods including group discussions helping them to learn how to take responsibility for their personal actions.

For most offenders the most powerful element of the programme is when a victim of crime comes to talk with them face-to-face on how crime has impacted on their lives. Anthony’s wife Sharon, who also works at Quadralene, has already attended these sessions as a victim of crime herself.

With over 2000 offenders participating every year it is a truly transformational experience for them and many prisoners attest to the very positive impact it has had on their lives. We are delighted that Anthony is able to make such a valuable contribution to the community in helping rebuild the lives of both the victims of crime and the offenders themselves.

New Corporate Friend for Bridge2Aid

Quadralene is delighted to have accepted an invitation from international dental charity Bridge2Aid to become a Corporate Friend. As a long-standing supporter of the charity’s work Quadralene has recently made a sizeable donation that will help with Bridge2Aid’s dental training programmes in the Mwanza region of Tanzania. This money will make possible the continued training of rural-based health workers who provide safe access to dental pain relief for thousands of disadvantaged people who would otherwise face a lifetime in pain with no hope of treatment.

Quadralene has supported Bridge2Aid for a number of years, building up a great relationship with the charity. Now, by becoming one of just six Corporate Friends, they are looking forward to building on this relationship and hoping to become more involved in the work of the Charity.

Bob Newsome, Managing Director at Quadralene commented: “Quadralene is proud to support the incredible work that Bridge2Aid are doing in East Africa. Becoming a Corporate Friend further strengthens our relationship with the charity and allows us to deepen our involvement in the work that they do to help those currently the facing the toughest of life circumstances”.

Bob the builder!?

While some people spent their half term holiday relaxing, Bob Newsome (Commercial Director at Quadralene) and a group of colleagues spent a week hard at work on behalf of the Networks charity, helping the local community in Siria; a small rural village in Western Romania, close to the border with Hungary.

Quadralene’s association with Networks was established five years ago when Bob was introduced to its founder and President, Lee Saville.
